If you are setting up your C by GE lights directly in the Google Home app (not using the C by GE app) follow these Google Seamless Set Up instructions.
If you are setting up your C by GE lights with the C by GE app first, then linking your C by GE account with Google Assistant, follow these instructions based on the type of C by GE light you have:
Direct Connect Lights
Because our Direct Connect Lights have Wi-Fi in addition to Bluetooth, you do not need an additional device to enable this smart feature. If you are unsure if you have Direct Connect lights, look for “Direct Connect” on packaging or the physical light. Next, follow the Google Set Up instructions below.
Bluetooth Lights
If you purchased C by GE lights that do not have “Direct Connect” on the packaging or physical light bulb, you will need a C by GE Wi-Fi device to enable this feature because these smart lights are connected to the C by GE app through Bluetooth.
Our Wi-Fi devices include the Smart Plug, Direct Connect Lights, Smart Switch or C-Reach Smart Bridge. One of these devices will need to be to be connected to the C by GE app and paired in the same app Location as your lights. Next, follow the Google Set Up instructions below.
Google Set Up Instructions:
First, connect your C by GE devices to the C by GE app.
If you are new to C by GE and Google Home:
- If you haven’t already, set up your C by GE devices in the C by GE app.
- Download the Google Home app
- Tap the Add (+ icon)
- Select “Set up device”
- Select “Works with Google – Have something already set up?”
- Type “C by GE” in the search bar and select “C by GE”
- Enter your C by GE account login information. This will link your C by GE and Google Home account.
- Google Home will identify and display the C by GE devices you have connected to your C by GE app. If you have more than one, you will set up each device one at a time. Select the first and follow the steps in-app. Continue until all C by GE devices are setup.
If you have previously set up C by GE devices with the C by GE and Google Home app, and want to add more:
- If you haven’t already, set up your device in the C by GE app.
- Check your home page in the Google Home app. If you see your device listed, you’re done! Most of the time, Google automatically discovers your new C by GE devices within 30 seconds of completing setup.
- If you do not see your new device listed, simply say, “Hey Google, sync my devices.”
- If you still don’t see your new devices, open the Google Home app:
- iPhone users:
- Tap the Add (+ icon)
- Select “Set up device”
- Select “Works with Google – Have something already set up?”
- Under “Linked,” tap “C by GE”
- Select “Check for new devices”
- Android users:
- Scroll to the “Linked to you” category towards the bottom of the homepage. Your new C by GE devices should be listed.
